Stefanie Chua
Stefanie Chua was crowned as Miss Malaysia Queen International 2008. Though she has already been modelling for a couple of years, she still sees many possibilities for her to grow in the industry that is glamorous on the outside but tough on the inside.
“Modelling has always been a passion of mine. Some treat it merely as a job or a chance to earn some extra income but I have always wanted to do it since young,” the 23-year-old Stefanie Chua said.
As a child, she would often play with her mother’s make-up and high heels and she now looks to supermodel Tyra Banks for inspiration. “I am a fan of America’s Next Top Model and I like how Banks represents a curvier type of body compared to most other models who are really skinny,” she said, adding that she began modelling in her hometown of Penang.
Chua first got a boost in the industry when she made heads turn by winning the first runner-up position in the Miss World Malaysia 2009 pageant. Currently, she is at a crossroads of sorts in her life with her university days behind her after completing her degree in mass communications. Chua, who loves children, has also always harboured the dream of marrying young.
